Why we serve...
We serve as an offering of love. For it is by grace we have been saved, through faith…and this is not of ourselves, as grace is the gift of God and not achieved by works, so that no one can boast.

Welcoming Baby
One of our Sisters' co-worker generously donated this child car seat and baby clothes in celebration of the coming of a little baby boy to one of the moms in the local homeless shelter.
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Everyone Likes New Underwear!
Julie brings some joy as she gives out underwear to the women at the overflow shelter.
New underwear feel sooooo good!
We're always on the lookout for great underwear prices so we can give it to the women we serve. If you have the heart and means to donate underwear, please let us know by emailing us.

SSS Recognition in Tribune on Mother's Day
On Mother's Day morning the Sisters Serving Sisters ministry was mentioned in an article featuring one local woman our ministry serves. Although the article contained a couple of misquotes (according to Michelle), we think it was quite informational. Please pray for our ministry and the people we serve.
You can read the article directly from the newpaper's website here, "A struggle of one mom in SLO County"

Bible Study Prayer Request
Part of our ministry service to the homeless women is to hold a weekly bible study for any who would like to join us. Our bible study is a highlight of our ministry. To share God's word with those who may have never attended a church or even read His word, is such a joy. On our bible study mornings we provide a healthy breakfast, coffee and hot chocolate. What a way to start a day, to be fed with God's living word and have a full stomach. Please pray for the women who attend our study and please pray that other women will desire to know God and attend as well. Thank you!

Meet Finley!
Meet Finley! Finley is our newest Sister...well maybe not a human Sister and not even a female, but we'll take him anyway. Finley is a certified service dog and he even has his own SSS nametag! Finley is a big hit among the children staying at the Overflow. He likes to give kisses and is always sweet and gentle to everyone. We enjoy having Finley serve Jesus with us. Good boy, Finley!

A Home of Her Own
Praise God! Thanks for praying for the ladies we serve. Recently, the Sisters have had the joy of seeing a few of our homeless women get a place of their own. Here is one place. Isn't it lovely?

Love
1 John 4:11 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love . In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love , not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

It's great to be a kid with your own personal blanket.
Here are a few of the children who received Christmas quilts from our Christmas Quilts with Mountainbrook quilt making event. Thanks to all the hardworking ladies from Mountainbrook.

Christmas Party at the Overflow
This was not your typical Christmas party,
This was a one of a kind SSS Christmas party at the Overflow, delivered only by the Sisters!
As you can see, there were lots of children present. We ate christmas goodies, had a Christmas tree decorating competition, made a holiday craft with the kids, watched some young girls perform a skit for us, and handed out Christmas gifts.
Thanks to the many individuals from 4 of our local churches in San Luis Obispo who generously gave gifts for our local homeless.

Quilts from Quilt Day at Mountainbrook
Quilt Day at Mountainbrook church was fantastic. Julie Delfino and Vickie Paulson did a great job in organizing the event. We had lots of ladies sewing up a storm for homeless children to receive quilts for Christmas. It was a blessing to see all the women serve Jesus.

Our sister, Melodee brought her crafty and joyful self to our Sister's Craft Night at the Homeless Overflow.
Can you tell that the kids really loved the crafts? They really love Melodee too!
